Kyushu is famous for having many great hot springs, and I visited Beppu, one of Kyushu’s most renowned onsen destinations. I stayed at KAI Beppu, a ryokan operated by Hoshino Resorts in Beppu.
Stepping into Kai Beppu feels like entering a serene and sophisticated traditional Japanese world. The warm smiles and attentive hospitality of the staff instantly ease any travel fatigue. The lobby opens up to a breathtaking panoramic ocean view allowing guests to fully embrace the tranquil atmosphere from the moment they arrive.
The ocean-view room had a cozy and relaxing atmosphere, beautifully blending traditional Japanese elements with modern design.
Beppu is famous for its excellent hot spring water, and I could immediately feel my skin becoming softer after a soak. The ice cream I had after the onsen was absolutely delicious.
Dinner at Kai Beppu features exquisite kaiseki cuisine made with the freshest local ingredients from Oita Prefecture. A special menu is also available for children, ensuring that the whole family can enjoy an unforgettable dining experience.
As part of KAI Beppu’s local experience program, we took a Hell Onsen Tour during the day and participated in an evening activity where we played traditional games and enjoyed famous local dishes. It was a program that people of all ages could enjoy, and our family created wonderful memories together.
